Her Brothers Keeper

I’ve never shared any pictures of my family, so here’s my first one. This is my first born, Geena. I am taking the time to share a little story with you.

She’s always been so selfless, especially when it comes to her brothers. She would go without for them, she HAS gone without for them. She has always put them and me before herself. This past April she quit her job and moved to Colorado. Why? To help her brother, my second oldest. She called me one morning and said, “I woke up with this overwhelming feeling and I’m moving to Colorado. I feel like I need to help my brother”. Who, by the way, was doing good at the time, or so we thought. If you’ve read my Spiritual Warfare series, you will know that a week after her arrival, things went south with her brother. Since then, it’s been up and down with him. But she’s been a trooper, and so selfless. It’s not been a very good past few days for us, we’re going through a rough patch as a family, BUT she assures me every step of the way, “don’t worry Mom, I’ve got this.” And got this, she does. She’s begun to have faith, like never before, in God, our Father. Something that I am so grateful for. Just the other day she told me, “mom I’ve always stuck by my brother, no matter what, so don’t worry, I’m here for a reason”.

So anyway, I’m saluting my daughter for her selfless acts, the love she has for her brothers, the love she has for me, and for being a strong, young woman. I love her with all my heart. Love you Geena.

1 Corinthians 13:7

7 love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

Plant on Fertile Ground

Matthew 13:1-23New King James Version (NKJV)

The Parable of the Sower

13 On the same day Jesus went out of the house and sat by the sea. And great multitudes were gathered together to Him, so that He got into a boat and sat; and the whole multitude stood on the shore.

Then He spoke many things to them in parables, saying: “Behold, a sower went out to sow. And as he sowed, some seed fell by the wayside; and the birds came and devoured them. Some fell on stony places, where they did not have much earth; and they immediately sprang up because they had no depth of earth. But when the sun was up they were scorched, and because they had no root they withered away. And some fell among thorns, and the thorns sprang up and choked them. But others fell on good ground and yielded a crop: some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty. He who has ears to hear, let him hear!”

The Purpose of Parables

10 And the disciples came and said to Him, “Why do You speak to them in parables?”

11 He answered and said to them, “Because it has been given to you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it has not been given. 12 For whoever has, to him more will be given, and he will have abundance; but whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him. 13 Therefore I speak to them in parables, because seeing they do not see, and hearing they do not hear, nor do they understand.14 And in them the prophecy of Isaiah is fulfilled, which says:

‘Hearing you will hear and shall not understand,
And seeing you will see and not perceive;
15 For the hearts of this people have grown dull.
Their ears are hard of hearing,
And their eyes they have closed,
Lest they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears,
Lest they should understand with theirhearts and turn,
So that I should<span data-fn="#fen-NKJV-23555a" class="footnote" data-link="[a]” style=”box-sizing: border-box; font-size: 0.625em; line-height: 22px; position: relative; vertical-align: top; top: 0px;”>[a] heal them.’<span data-fn="#fen-NKJV-23555b" class="footnote" data-link="[b]” style=”box-sizing: border-box; font-size: 0.625em; line-height: 22px; position: relative; vertical-align: top; top: 0px;”>[b]

16 But blessed are your eyes for they see, and your ears for they hear; 17 for assuredly, I say to you that many prophets and righteous mendesired to see what you see, and did not see it,and to hear what you hear, and did not hear it.

The Parable of the Sower Explained

18 “Therefore hear the parable of the sower:19 When anyone hears the word of the kingdom, and does not understand it, then the wicked onecomes and snatches away what was sown in his heart. This is he who received seed by the wayside. 20 But he who received the seed on stony places, this is he who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy; 21 yet he has no root in himself, but endures only for a while. For when tribulation or persecution arises because of the word, immediately he stumbles. 22 Now he who received seed among the thorns is he who hears the word, and the cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and he becomes unfruitful. 23 But he who received seed on the good ground is he who hears the word and understands it, who indeed bears fruit and produces: some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.”

As my friend’s husband Brigido, or Papo, as we call him, said today….when you plant on fertile ground, your roots will grow strong and it will take more than a breeze to uproot you. Stand firm in Jesus and nothing can pull that out, wash it away, take it away, steal it away, it will remain forever. Amen? Amen!!
